Yes, IVF grants exist, and applying usually costs a fee of $100 or less. Of the 22 US programs that publish their terms, 13 accept applicants from any state and the rest are limited to certain states, clinics or groups. All are competitive: apply to every one you qualify for, and match each program's payout date to when your treatment starts, because several will not pay for treatment already begun.

Who
US permanent residents, single or in a couple of any gender, who need medical help to conceive and are treated at an accredited US fertility facility. Recipients need basic health insurance with prenatal coverage, and first-time parents are strongly favored.
Pays for
IVF (including with genetic testing), egg or sperm donation, egg freezing, embryo donation and gestational surrogacy; fertility medication only when insurance does not cover it. It does not fund IUI.
Catch
Awards vary with need and available funds rather than a fixed amount. Nothing already begun or scheduled is covered, not even IVF medications you have started, and recipients must begin treatment within three months.

Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Family Building Grant

US citizens or legal permanent residents, single or in a couple, with a physician's diagnosis of infertility, considered regardless of race, religion, age, income or sexual orientation.
Pays for
IUI, IVF, donor egg, gestational carrier and domestic adoption. A separate medication award gives specific fertility drugs.
Catch
The money is locked to the plan in your application, so it cannot move to another treatment, a multi-cycle bundle or a shared-risk program. It does not cover egg or embryo freezing, international adoption or costs already incurred, and it pays out months after the deadline.

Gift of Parenthood

Four cycles a year, one per calendar quarter (for example July to September), with results about two weeks after each quarter ends. It has the shortest wait between applications of the national programs.
Who
Adults 18 or older who are legal residents of the US (or Canada, the UK or Australia), with a documented infertility journey and financial need, in good health, and with at least one partner employed. Couples of any gender and individuals may apply; health insurance is not required.
Pays for
Testing, fertility medications, IUI, IVF, egg or sperm donation, embryo donation, egg freezing, gestational surrogacy and domestic or international adoption fees.
Catch
The quarterly pool of up to $20,000 is usually shared by one or two families chosen from hundreds of applicants, and treatment begun before the award is not covered.

Journey to Parenthood grant

Who
Individuals and couples where the applicant or partner is a US citizen living in the US, treated by a US reproductive endocrinologist, with significant financial need and a stable home for a child. No income limit is set.
Pays for
Any expenses of IUI, IVF, egg donation, surrogacy or adoption, paid directly to the clinic, pharmacy or agency.
Catch
It funds only 1 to 4 families a year from about 75 to 100 applications, does not reimburse costs already incurred, and the award must be used within 12 months.

Footsteps for Fertility Foundation grants

Who
Anyone who meets SART's definition of infertility. For an event grant you must register for and attend the local event, and be present if you are drawn.
Pays for
IVF, frozen embryo transfer and IUI. The donated grant covers the in-house clinic costs of a basic IVF cycle.
Catch
Winners are drawn at random, not chosen on need, and event grants require being at the event. The donated cycle excludes medications, blood work, anesthesia, donor sperm or eggs and adopted embryos.

Parental Hope Family Grant

US citizens or permanent residents with a reproductive endocrinologist's infertility diagnosis, no insurance that covers infertility treatment, a combined income of $60,000 to $200,000 and no biological child together. IVF applicants must be under 40, under 235 pounds and have an AMH of at least 0.7.
Pays for
One IVF cycle (monitoring, retrieval, fertilization, ICSI if needed and one transfer, including an egg donor cycle) or one frozen embryo transfer; or up to $5,000 toward embryo adoption through the National Embryo Donation Center in Knoxville.
Catch
All treatment happens at one clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio, so travel and time off are yours, and medications, donor fees, embryo storage and genetic testing are not covered.

Hope for Fertility National Grant

Legally married couples, LGBTQ couples welcome, where both spouses are US citizens or green card holders living in the US and have a physician's infertility diagnosis. A government marriage certificate is required, and each couple can receive one grant.
Pays for
Infertility treatment, surrogacy or adoption, usually the clinic's in-house costs of the procedures or the adoption costs, paid to a US clinic or agency.
Catch
Only legally married couples qualify, a couple can receive only one grant ever, and it does not pay for medications, legal or other third-party fees, or anything already paid.

Preparatory procedures, IUI, IVF, genetic testing, donor eggs or embryos, surrogacy, medically needed egg freezing (for example before cancer treatment) and medication prescribed by the clinic.
Catch
Male-factor infertility is not covered, the application window is short (April 1 to May 9), and storage fees, sperm donor fees and travel are excluded.

Operation Baby Foundation grant

Pays for
Fertility preservation (egg and embryo retrieval), IVF or IUI, gestational carrier or surrogacy fees, fertility testing and adoption.
Catch
Nothing done before you apply is reimbursed, storage fees are handled by a separate SAMFund grant, and the program favors applicants with a clear plan and other means to cover the rest.

Catch
IVF must be done at one of the foundation's partner clinics (it reports 150 or more locations), no amount is published, and past expenses are not covered.

Men Having Babies Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP)

Gay men and transgender people applying alone or with a male partner, at least one aged 25 to 55 with no existing children, under the program's income limit. Membership costs an annual donation of at least $250.
Pays for
Discounted or free IVF, surrogacy agency, egg donation and legal services, discounted fertility medication, escrow and insurance services, and small cash grants in Stage II.
Catch
Stage I brings discounts, not money, and most partner providers will not apply them after you have signed, so apply first. Stage II expects you to fund roughly 30 to 40% of a US journey yourself.

The Surrogacy Foundation National Grant

Who
US citizens or permanent residents for whom surrogacy is medically necessary (including single men and gay male couples) who have at least three euploid embryos created, frozen and stored in the US by the deadline.
Pays for
Base surrogacy journey expenses such as embryo transfer, agency and legal fees, the carrier's base compensation and allowances.
Catch
You must already have three tested, normal embryos frozen in the US before applying, variable costs (extra insurance, twins, a c-section) are excluded, and past costs are never reimbursed.

Chicago Coalition for Family Building grants

The financial and donated IVF cycle grants open once a year each April (2026 deadline May 31). A November to December 31, 2026 round covers only the JUF Path to Parenthood grants (Jewish families in six Illinois counties) and the Willow Grant (after pregnancy loss).

Residents of Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin with no more than one child and a medically certified infertility diagnosis (same-sex couples, genetic disease carriers and medical fertility preservation excepted). Own-egg applicants must be 41 or younger, with BMI under 40, FSH under 15 and AMH over 0.8.
Pays for
Infertility care, medications, IVF and IUI, embryo freezing and donation, genetic testing of embryos, medical egg freezing, donor eggs or sperm, surrogacy and adoption fees.
Catch
Treatment must be at an Illinois SART member clinic (except for the Willow Grant), the donated cycle may be at a different partner clinic than yours, and the main grants open only in April.

Fertility Foundation of Texas grant

IVF cycle costs billed by the clinic, such as labs and procedures, paid directly to the provider.
Catch
Finalists must attend an in-person interview in Austin, the grant cannot pay physician fees or elective egg freezing, and it is awarded only once per person.

IVF-related procedures such as an egg retrieval or embryo transfer, paid directly to the clinic within six months of the award.
Catch
The grants are small and the application is on paper by mail. It does not cover IUI or procedures already done.

Open regardless of gender, marital status or sexual orientation.
Pays for
IVF only: the treatment cycle with own or donor eggs, sperm or embryos, freezing, embryo testing, a gestational carrier and cycle medications.
Catch
Treatment must be at one of two Connecticut practices, the clinical cutoffs are strict, and the 2026 round is closed.

Out-of-pocket costs of IUI, IVF, medications, frozen embryo transfer, genetic testing, donor egg or sperm fees, gestational carrier fees and adoption.
Catch
The medical limits for own-egg IVF are strict (41 or younger at the deadline, BMI under 40, FSH under 15, AMH over 0.5), and treatment must be at a SART-accredited center in one of the four states.

An egg retrieval and embryo transfer, IUI or a frozen embryo transfer at a partner clinic.
Catch
Treatment must be at a partner clinic in your community, recipients contribute part of the cost themselves, and it does not cover egg freezing, surrogate fees or treatment already paid for.

Timing

Apply before you start treatment

Grants pay on a calendar, not on your timeline. A program that closes applications in spring may pay out in summer, and several state plainly that they will not reimburse a cycle you have already started or paid for. Line up each program's deadline and payout with your clinic's schedule before you pay an application fee, and hold off on a loan until you know whether an award is coming: a loan signed early can leave you paying interest on money a grant would have covered.

Programs tied to one clinic are worth a look even if you had not planned to use that clinic, but price the travel and time off: a grant that covers a cycle in another state is still cheaper than paying for one at home only if you can get there for monitoring and retrieval.

If grants are not enough

  • Pre-tax HSA and FSA dollars

    IVF is a qualified medical expense, so the same bill can be paid with untaxed money, with no application.

  • Refund and shared-risk programs

    One flat fee for several cycles, with some or all of it back if there is no live birth.

  • Insurance coverage

    Check your state's IVF mandate and your employer's plan first: coverage moves the number more than any grant.

  • Fertility loans

    Lenders' own published rates and limits, as the last step once grants and coverage are settled.

Are there grants for IVF?

Yes. We found 22 US programs whose own websites publish their grant terms. 13 of them accept applicants from any state; the rest are for residents of particular states or patients of particular clinics. The national programs open to anyone with a medical need are Baby Quest Foundation, Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Family Building Grant, Gift of Parenthood, Journey to Parenthood grant, Footsteps for Fertility Foundation grants and Parental Hope Family Grant. Every grant is competitive, so treat one as a possible help rather than a plan.

How much do IVF grants pay?

It varies widely. Among the 6 national programs open to anyone, the largest published award is $20,000; Parental Hope Family Grant pays only for treatment at its partner clinic; and Baby Quest Foundation does not publish an amount. Across all 22 programs, the published maximums run from $1,500 to $100,000. Each card in the finder shows the award exactly as the program states it.

Who qualifies for an IVF grant?

Most programs ask for US residency and a doctor's diagnosis or documented medical need, and many weigh financial need. Beyond that, 7 programs are only for residents of certain states, 3 tie the money to one clinic or network, and 13 are limited to a particular group, such as households under an income limit, people with little or no IVF coverage, first-time parents and Jewish families. Use the state filter to see only the programs that accept you.

Is there an application fee for IVF grants?

Often. Among programs that publish a fee, it runs from $25 to $100, usually non-refundable; 11 publish no fee. That makes applying to every program you qualify for a small cost next to a cycle that runs five figures.

Can a grant pay for egg freezing or surrogacy?

Some can. Programs that name egg freezing among the uses: Baby Quest Foundation, Gift of Parenthood, Hopeful Mama Grant, SAMFund Family Building Grant (Expect Miracles Foundation), Chicago Coalition for Family Building grants and Nest Egg Foundation IVF grant. Programs that name surrogacy or a gestational carrier: Baby Quest Foundation, Tinina Q. Every award, fee, deadline and condition above was read on the program's own website, never taken from a list or a blog, and the whole directory is re-checked at least every three months. Where a program does not publish an amount, we say so rather than repeat a figure from elsewhere.
