Every dataset behind IVFcost.co
Each number on this site comes from one of these datasets, and each dataset from the sources listed under it: a clinic's own price page, the CDC, an insurer's own policy document. Here is what each one holds, how it stays current, and the day we last read it at its sources.
How the data stays current
Scheduled jobs
Public sources with an official feed (the CDC, ClinicalTrials.gov, the FDA, CMS, the NIH, journals) are read by scheduled jobs on the source's own rhythm: news every day, the rest every week. The pages built on them update by themselves when the source changes.
A daily price check
Every IVF price a clinic posts is re-read on the clinic's own page about every other day, to confirm the amount is still there. A price the clinic changed or removed is flagged and read again, and the change is kept with its date.
Research re-reads
Data with no feed (prices, coverage documents, grant dates, agency pay) is read record by record at each record's own source, on the schedule below: monthly for prices and offers, quarterly for coverage documents, yearly for settled clinical facts. The ones past their schedule are read first.
What changed in fertility care (clinic closures, new names, grant rounds opening and closing) is logged day by day on News. The posted clinic prices can be downloaded as a free open dataset, archived with a DOI. How we judge sources is on Methodology.
