Does Amazon cover IVF?
What Amazon publishes about fertility benefits for its US employees, in its own words, with the page each statement is on.

Yes. Amazon says it covers IVF for eligible US employees, up to 1 Maven cycle (limits differ by plan, listed below). Amazon's hourly jobs page lists medical coverage, which the fertility benefit requires, for full-time and reduced-time jobs of 30 to 40 hours a week, and does not list it for part-time jobs of 20 to 29 hours. Fertility treatment is covered after 90 days of employment. Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement is open from 20 hours a week. The benefit is run by Maven. Maven runs the benefit now, so descriptions of Amazon's fertility benefit in Progyny Smart Cycles are out of date.
What Amazon says it covers

IVF is covered
“A medical diagnosis of infertility is not required to receive fertility treatment (IUI, IVF) or preservation (egg, sperm freezing) coverage through this benefit.”
Maven's enrollment page for Amazon: Premera, Aetna, Cigna and Kaiser plans
1 Maven cycle
One lifetime Maven cycle per member, with 12 credits to spend on care. A spouse or partner on an Amazon health plan gets a separate one.
“Eligible Amazon health plan members enrolled in an Amazon Premera, Aetna, Cigna, or Kaiser medical plan will have access to 1 Lifetime Max Maven cycle per member, with 12 credits to cover your care.”
Maven's 2025 guide for Amazon: Aetna, Cigna and Kaiser plans
$25,000 lifetime
The 2025 guide gave a dollar maximum on these plans and one Maven Cycle on the Premera plans, while Maven's current enrollment page gives one Maven cycle on all four. Ask Maven which applies to your plan.
“enrolled in an Amazon Aetna, Cigna or Kaiser medical plan have access to a $25,000 lifetime maximum per covered member”
Run by Maven
Maven administers the fertility benefit for Amazon, so it is the one to call about which clinics are in network and what needs approval first.
“Through Amazon’s partnership with Maven, we continue to offer financial coverage for fertility treatment if an employee is enrolled in a health plan.”
Infertility diagnosis
Amazon says you do not need an infertility diagnosis to use the benefit.
“No infertility diagnosis is required to get started.”
Egg freezing
Amazon says egg freezing is covered.
“Members pursuing fertility treatments (like IUI, IVF and egg freezing) are required to use a Maven Performance Network provider to qualify for coverage”
Adoption
Amazon says each household may be reimbursed up to $10,000 in eligible adoption expenses, and that its adoption, surrogacy and donor benefits are separate from each other.
“Each household may be reimbursed for up to $10,000 in eligible expenses such as agency fees, legal fees, and travel expenses. The adoption, surrogacy, and donor benefits are separate from each other, meaning employees can utilize all three programs.”
Can part-time Amazon workers use it?
Eligibility decides whether a benefit is worth taking a job for, so this is the line to confirm before anything else.
You have to be enrolled in a Amazon medical plan to use the benefit, so its premiums and deductible are part of what the coverage costs you.
“Grow your family Receive financial assistance for adoption and surrogacy expenses, plus medical coverage for pregnancy and fertility treatments.”
“All fertility treatment and donor/tissue benefits are available to Amazon employees and spouses/partners enrolled in Amazon's Premera, Aetna, Cigna, or Kaiser health plans.”
“Employees must complete 90 days of employment at Amazon before you or a spouse/partner can access in-person fertility treatment or incur eligible adoption/surrogacy/donor expenses.”
“Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement benefits are available to full-time, part-time, and reduced-time employees working 20 hours or more regardless of medical plan enrollment status.”
The limit beside what IVF costs
A benefit limit means little until it sits next to the price of a cycle.
Amazon: stated limit
1 Maven cycle
The first of 2 stated limits
US: one cycle all in
$25,000–$32,000
With medications ($3,000–$7,000) and the common add-ons. How it adds up
- Maven's 2025 guide for Amazon: Aetna, Cigna and Kaiser plans: $25,000 is roughly one typical cycle, less if you add genetic testing or need a second retrieval.
These are cash prices. A plan pays its own negotiated rates, and you still owe its deductible and coinsurance, so treat this as a rough guide.
Six things to ask Amazon before you count on it
A public benefits page is a summary. The plan document for your own plan and location is what the plan pays by.
- 1.What is the lifetime maximum, and do fertility drugs count toward it or have their own limit?
- 2.When does coverage start after my hire date, and how many hours a week do I need to keep it?
- 3.Do I need an infertility diagnosis, or prior authorization, before treatment is covered?
- 4.Which fertility clinics near me are in network, and what do I pay if mine is not?
- 5.What are the deductible, the coinsurance and the out-of-pocket maximum on the plan the benefit sits in?
- 6.Are egg freezing, donor eggs or sperm, genetic testing of embryos and embryo storage covered?
State insurance laws reach only fully-insured plans, and 67% of covered US workers are in self-funded employer plans, which set their own fertility benefits whatever the state requires. About 50% of employers with 500 or more workers now cover IVF. A large employer's plan is usually self-funded (80% of covered workers at large firms are in one), so what Amazon chooses to cover matters more than your state's IVF insurance law.
