Carrot Fertility: how its benefit works and which employers use it
What Carrot says about its fertility benefit in its own words, and the large employers whose own benefit pages name it.
- Pages read · checked 3 d ago
Carrot is a fertility and family care benefit that employers buy, and your employer designs what it includes. Since January 2026 an employer can give a set dollar amount, a number of treatment rounds, or both, and the benefit can cover IVF, egg, sperm and embryo freezing, donor and surrogacy journeys. Members can pay providers with the Carrot Card instead of waiting for reimbursement, and fertility drugs can come through Carrot Rx. Carrot names no IVF cycle value on its public pages.
What Carrot Fertility says about its benefit
Read on Oct 23, 2026 on its own pages. The words in quotation marks are its own. Your employer decides what your plan includes.
Dollars, treatment rounds or both
An employer chooses a set dollar amount, a defined number of treatment rounds for US journeys, or since January 28, 2026 a combination. Under rounds, care comes through Carrot's provider network, with rounds applied by individual need.
“a benefit maximum (flat-dollar) design, which provides a set dollar amount for coverage, or a cycle-based design, which covers a defined number of fertility treatment rounds for U.S.-based fertility journeys.”
“customers can now choose and combine both benefit maximums and cycle-based options, giving them even more ways to tailor fertility coverage to their members’ unique needs.”
“Members using cycle-based coverage receive care through Carrot's provider network, with treatment rounds applied based on their individual needs.”
Your employer designs it
Carrot designs each benefit with the employer around its budget and goals, and the employer can add a financial benefit toward eligible care, so what you get depends on your employer.
“We partner with employers like you to design a benefit that fits the unique needs of your employees, your budget, and your goals.”
“Employers can also choose to offer a financial benefit to support members in paying for eligible fertility and family care services.”
What it can cover
IVF, fertility preservation, donor and surrogacy journeys, and egg, sperm and embryo freezing for personal or medical reasons through preparation, freezing and storage, within what your employer's plan includes. Its employer page describes support from maternity through menopause.
“Carrot’s Flexible Plan Design supports members across every fertility journey, including IVF, preservation, donor, and surrogacy through one simple, seamless experience.”
“Carrot supports fertility preservation – personal or medical, any reason, anytime, through preparation, freezing, and storage.”
“Provide employees comprehensive, expertly-guided support for maternity through menopause and pre-pregnancy through parenting.”
The Carrot Card
Members pay for eligible care with the Carrot Card at the time of care, instead of paying first and waiting for reimbursement.
“no more waiting for reimbursement or having to pay out-of-pocket for care with the one-of-a-kind Carrot Card”
Carrot Rx
Carrot's fertility pharmacy: members are guided to it through their benefit for prescriptions and ordering, with same- or next-day delivery on virtually all medications. An employer can also run it beside another fertility program.
“Carrot Rx is Carrot’s fertility and hormonal health pharmacy solution, offering a single source for medications, proactive support, and cost controls for members and plan sponsors.”
“Same- or next-day delivery on virtually all medications means no delays or missed cycles due to medication mishaps.”
“Now, employers can implement Carrot Rx alongside any existing fertility benefits program providing coverage for medical services”
Its network
17,000+ clinics, providers, agencies, attorneys and specialists in 195+ countries, with free unlimited virtual visits with Carrot's experts. Its pages state no standard a clinic must meet to join.
“With the largest global network of 17,000+ clinics, providers, agencies, attorneys, and specialists in 195+ countries, Carrot members can unlock access to expertise, personalized support, free unlimited virtual visits, and Carrot Rx”
Less invasive options first
Carrot's experts suggest less invasive options first when appropriate, such as ovulation tracking and IUI, and Carrot says 60% of its members choose these over IVF.
“At Carrot, our experts suggest less-invasive options first when appropriate, including 1:1 nutrition counseling, precision ovulation tracking, and IUI. Ultimately, 60% of Carrot members choose these options over IVF.”
Surrogacy and adoption
Carrot connects members with vetted surrogacy and adoption agencies, legal experts and partners. Its pages describe support and guidance and do not say it pays surrogacy costs; that depends on your employer's plan.
“Carrot provides an array of support for donor-assisted journeys such as gestational surrogacy as well as adoption support and guidance to vetted agencies or partners.”
“Carrot connects members with vetted agencies, legal experts, and other partners to help simplify the process.”
Who it is for
Carrot describes its IVF support as for people diagnosed with infertility, same-sex couples, single parents by choice and more.
“IVF is a crucial assisted reproduction option for those diagnosed with infertility, same-sex couples, single parents by choice, and more”
Size, and how Carrot is paid
More than 1,000 customers and 4M+ lives covered in 195+ countries, its employer page says. Carrot says its revenue depends on member engagement, not on how many treatments such as IVF rounds members have.
“Serving more than 1,000 customers globally”
“As with Carrot’s benefit maximum design, the company generates revenue based on member engagement, not on the number of treatments, such as rounds of IVF, members undergo.”
