What CareCredit says
The words in quotation marks are the lender's own.
Fertility treatment
CareCredit's fertility page offers a one-time loan and its credit card, at providers enrolled with it.
“Help make your fertility journey a little easier with flexible financing solutions.”
“Not all promotional financing options are available at all enrolled providers. Ask your provider for details.”
The 0% promotions are deferred interest
"No interest if paid in full" means interest builds from the day of the purchase and is all charged if any of the balance is left when the promotion ends.
“Interest at the rate of 32.99% will be charged to your account from the date of purchase if the promotional purchase is not paid in full within the promotional period.”
Fixed-payment plans
Larger purchases can go on a fixed plan of 24 to 60 months at a reduced APR instead.
“Purchases of $1,000 or more may be eligible for a 24-month offer with a 17.90% APR, a 36-month offer with a 18.90% APR or a 48-month offer with a 19.90% APR. Purchases of $2,500 or more may be eligible for a 60-month offer with a 20.90% APR.”
The standard rate
Outside a promotion the card charges 32.99%, a figure its own pages date to May 30, 2024.
“The APR is 32.99% for new accounts (as of 5/30/24).”
What $25,000 would cost with CareCredit
$25,000 is a typical all-in IVF cycle on our cost model. The payments are arithmetic on CareCredit's published range, not an offer.
| At | Months | A month | Repaid in all |
|---|---|---|---|
| Its 60-month plan, 20.90% | 60 | $675 | $40,496 |
Most families need 2.3 to 2.7 cycles, so a loan sized to one cycle can run out mid-treatment. Where a lender takes an origination fee out of the loan, you receive less than you borrow: size the loan to the bill plus the fee.
What would a loan cost each month?
- Monthly payment
- $595
- Total interest
- $10,685
- Total repaid
- $35,685
Standard fixed-rate arithmetic. Many personal lenders also take an origination fee (0% to about 10%) out of the loan, so you receive less than you borrow; the APR a lender quotes already counts it.
